NDLEA Busts Abuja Drug Hubs, Arrests 132 Suspects, Seizes 220kg Illicit Substances
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled multiple drug joints and bunks across Abuja, arresting 132 suspects and recovering over 220 kilograms of illicit substances in a sweeping two-week operation.
The raids, carried out between April 11 and April 25, 2026, targeted major drug hotspots within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The operation, led by the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command, followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Areas affected by the crackdown include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis.
According to the agency, the seized substances comprised 214.79 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis), 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam, 2.352 kilograms of Exol, 1.119 kilograms of Tramadol, as well as smaller quantities of cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, ecstasy, Mogadon, and codeine syrup.
NDLEA said its operatives faced stiff resistance in parts of Durumi and Suleja Market during the raids but were able to overpower the drug syndicates without recording any casualties.
Briefing the agency’s leadership, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, praised the professionalism and coordination displayed by officers involved in the exercise, stressing the importance of sustaining the momentum.
Reacting to the development, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the operatives for their commitment to sanitising the capital. He directed that the strategy be replicated in other high-risk urban centres across the country.
Marwa reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to intensify efforts aimed at curbing both the demand and supply of illicit drugs nationwide.
