NDLEA Honours VGADA for Sustained Support in WADA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recognised the Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA) for its sustained commitment to the fight against substance abuse and addiction in Nigeria.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd.), presented a Certificate of Commendation to VGADA on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in recognition of the organisation’s unwavering support for the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign.

The recognition acknowledged VGADA’s contributions to drug abuse prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, advocacy and public education across the country.

Following the presentation, VGADA Executive Director, Dr. Hope Omeiza, held a closed-door meeting with Marwa, where he reaffirmed the organisation’s readiness to provide further expert support and strengthen professional collaboration with the NDLEA and other civil society organisations working to combat substance abuse.

Omeiza said the fight against drug abuse required a collective and sustained effort involving government agencies, civil society organisations, development partners and other stakeholders.

He reiterated VGADA’s commitment to working with the NDLEA and relevant partners to promote a healthier, safer and drug-free Nigeria.

VGADA expressed appreciation for the commendation, describing the recognition as an encouragement to intensify its efforts in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of people affected by substance abuse.
