NCAA confirms Aerodrome Certification for Kano, Port Harcourt Airports
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, and Port Harcourt International Airport have received full aerodrome certification.
With the latest approvals, the number of certified international airports in Nigeria has increased to four, as the two airports join the already certified Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Aerodrome certification is a key regulatory requirement that attests to an airport’s compliance with international safety, security and operational standards as prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The NCAA said the certification followed rigorous inspections and assessments of infrastructure, safety management systems, airside operations and emergency response capabilities at the airports.
The development is expected to enhance safety, boost passenger confidence and strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector, while positioning the newly certified airports for increased domestic and international operations.
