Media calls for more collaboration with security operatives

Kwame Karikari facilitator of media foundation for west Africa says the Nigerian Police should continue and cooperate with the media during and after elections in order to foster good governance and promote democracy.
MFWA facilitator also said the two institution has a common goal which is to promote democracy and
enhance developent “ when the two are at loggerheads it is bad for democracy. We are glad that the elections didn’t end on the battle field but in court’.
Karikari made this statement during post -election forum on police- media relations and safety of journalist in Nigeria held in Abuja.
President of the national union of journalist Chris Isiguzo says cooperation between the two are
important and should be taken beyond the elections.
He therefore call for more collaboration with other security operatives as he added that when a journalist is Not safe a nation is threatened.
Meanwhile the spokesman of the Nigerian Police force Frank Mba assured that the police is consciously trying to bridge the gap to ensure synergy between the media and the police.
“ we have a lot in common, one is the fact that we both run towards danger while others are running. We also have common enemies therefore we must work together because we both suffer occupational hazards”
He added that the police is committed to building a relationship as the media are veritable partners.
