Mayegun of Egbaland supports MAPOLY Developmental Projects with N10m

As part of his philanthropist gestures to the society, Chief Olatunde Abudu, has donated a whopping sum of ten million naira as endowment fund to the management of Ogun State government-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ojere, Abeokuta.

The foremost Industrialist, Chief Abudu donated the sum during a courtesy visit to his residence in Abeokuta, by the management of the institution in recognition of his advocacy for support for the institution.

Abudu, fellow of the institution expressed joy for hosting the management of the polytechnic, while he recounted his relationship with the institution and his belief in educational development and the relevance of the institution in filling the gaps in capacity building and employment generation in Nigeria.

Speaking further, Chief Abudu, who also is the Mayegun of Egbaland, commended the management for resolving to turn around the institution with consultation and revalidation of relationship with major stakeholders, while he promised his unflinching support to corroborate the management’s drive to rebranding the foremost 40 years old polytechnic.

In his address, Rector of the institution, Dr Samson Odedina, who led the management team briefed the host of government support to the institution since it was returned to status quo ante in June, 2019.

Dr. Odedina remarked that the significance of the meeting was to reopen relationship with all polytechnic stakeholders in order to bring the institution to its rightful place among the comity of institutions in Nigeria.

He said: “Effort is ongoing to launch the institution back into prominence in the 2019/2020 admission with the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), returning the polytechnic status to its portal and National Board For Technical Education (NBTE).

“I have assurance on the revalidation and accreditation of 44 programmes previously run by the polytechnic, while new programmes including its first set of agricultural and land-related courses in its forty years of existence.

“The institution is also taking advantage of the new polytechnic act recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, that now empowers polytechnics to partner with other relevant institutions to produce high-level manpower.”
