Man commits suicide inside University College Hospital Ibadan
A middle man whose age could not be ascertain has committed suicide inside the University College Hospital(UCH),Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, having jumped down from the 5th floor of one of the hospital buildings.
Penpushing was at the hospital and report that, the victim was alleged to have sneaked to the floor, following the ongoing nationwide strike embarked on by hospitals staff, using the opportunity to kill himself.
The incident occurred at about 9.am from the floor where the museum of the hospital is situated. He hit his head on the concrete floor, and died on the spot, but as at the time of filing this report, the family could not be reach by the hospital management.
Penpushing further report that, blood stained littered the ground, as the hospital orderly were seen cleaning the scene, just as the remains were being moved to the morgue of the hospital as at the time of filing this report.
The Head of Public Relations of the Hospital,Ayodeji Bobade while speaking with Penpushing said, the police have been alerted over the ugly development, adding that, it was unfortunate that, hospital is now been turn to a place to commit suicide.
He said, the management was yet to establish the contact of the deceased family, adding that, he(victim) seized the opportunity of the ongoing strike to commit the suicidal, adding that, the corpse had being deposited in the morgue.
Bobade added further that, only item recovered from the the victim was a pair of his slippers, as there was no any identity on him, but said police would work out other modalities to locate and identify his family.
‘The incident happened at about 9am. He jumped from the fifth floor, leaving only his leather slippers. The floor is where the museum is, He sneaked to the floor, because of the ongoing JOHESU strike. It is a case of suicide, and we have invited the police. I am not aware if he left any note, but the corpse is in our mortuary’, the hospital spokesman said
