MAJA Commences Online Membership Registration Compliance
The Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) has formally commenced compliance with the newly introduced online membership registration exercise of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following the party’s nationwide launch of a free digital registration platform ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
According to a report titled “ADC Opens Free Online Membership Registration Nationwide,” published by Jerrywright Ukwu on March 1, 2026, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the commencement of free online membership registration across Nigeria as part of its ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC disclosed that the digital platform forms part of reforms initiated during the membership exercise launched in Abuja last month to modernize the party’s database and align with emerging electoral requirements.
Consequently, the Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), as an allied political platform, has completed the onboarding process through the online membership portal in line with the directive of the party.
It would be recalled that in 2025, the former Presidential Candidate of MAJA, Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, officially aligned with the African Democratic Congress in accordance with the collective decision of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and MAJA leadership.
The ADC explained that the online portal was introduced to comply with provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates political parties to maintain comprehensive digital membership registers.
The party emphasized that only members whose details are fully captured and verified in its official digital register will be eligible to vote or contest in party primaries, while manual registration will continue simultaneously across the country.
The statement noted:
“The new digital registration platform, accessible via www.adcregistration.ng, is designed to enable the party meet the requirements of the Electoral Act 2026 regarding digital membership registers.
Accordingly, only individuals whose membership details are fully captured and verified in the Party’s official digital register will be eligible to vote or be voted for in the Party’s primaries.”
ADC further disclosed that the exercise has already generated strong interest among Nigerians across various states and in the diaspora since the commencement of its grassroots membership drive in February.
The introduction of the free online option, the party explained, is aimed at removing barriers to participation, simplifying enrollment procedures, and ensuring seamless and secure membership access for all eligible Nigerians.
The party also urged support groups, associations, and political alliances to register through the portal and complete their onboarding processes.
While reaffirming its reservations concerning certain provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and aspects of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable, the ADC maintained that the exercise remains necessary for statutory compliance.
The party reiterated its commitment to building:
“a modern, inclusive, and citizen-driven political movement capable of delivering credible leadership and a better Nigeria that works for all.”
It will be recalled that on February 18, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law following its passage by the National Assembly.
Section 77(2) of the amended law mandates political parties to submit a comprehensive digital membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at least twenty-one (21) days before party primaries.
The register is required to include members’ names, sex, date of birth, address, state, local government area, ward, polling unit, National Identity Number (NIN), and photographs in both hard and soft copy formats.
