Katsina gov-elect Radda to create “his own Amotekun”
Katsina State governor-elect, Dikko Umaru Radda has revealed plans by his government to tackle insecurity in the state.
Naijablitznews.com reports that Katsina is the home of the incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari and one of the frontline stated in North West Nigeria hardest hit by armed bandits who attack and kidnap people from villages and highways even with security forces present.
But with insecurity bedeviling the state, and this is a major challenge for the people of Katsina ahead of the inauguration of the new administration on May 29.
“I have outlined my strategic policies and one of the main points I said I will do is I will establish a state security outfit. I will create my own Amotekun (Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), whatever name we are going to give it in Katsina State.
“I will look among those categories of people who are living in these localities, especially the frontline local governments because we are thinking of using the locals.
“If you are within the community it makes you stronger, more courageous to face the challenges than people who are coming from outside, they will have it in their heart to deal with the situation. And they also know the criminally minded people within the community”, Radda told Daily Trust.
