Kano Applauds DSS for Swift Rescue of Abducted Administrator

The Kano State Government has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue of the abducted Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, Hamza Durya.

Durya was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Kibiya Local Government Area a few days ago by armed men who later demanded a ransom of N100 million.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the rescue operation as a major success achieved through swift coordination among security agencies.

According to the statement, operatives of the DSS in Kano carried out the operation, rescuing the victim and apprehending two suspected kidnappers, who sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

The government hailed the development as proof of the professionalism and commitment of security operatives in tackling criminal activities across the state. It noted that the outcome reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies being implemented across all 44 local government areas.

The administration also acknowledged the role of the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for providing support and resources that have strengthened the capacity of security agencies.

Reassuring residents of its dedication to maintaining peace, the government urged the public to stay alert and promptly report suspicious movements to security authorities, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in sustaining safety across Kano.
