Kalu Hints at 2027 Abia Governorship Bid, Plans Formal Declaration in Umuahia
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has indicated his readiness to join the 2027 governorship race in Abia State.
Speaking during a visit to Isialangwa, Kalu acknowledged growing calls from supporters urging him to contest, noting that similar appeals had been made in Bende and Obingwa.
He explained that while he has taken note of the requests, he intends to make a unified and formal response at the appropriate venue—the state capital, Umuahia.
According to him, the significance of the governorship position requires that any official declaration be made in Umuahia, which he described as the constitutional seat of power in Abia State.
Kalu added that arrangements are underway to invite stakeholders and supporters to the capital in the coming days, where he will give a definitive response to the calls for him to run.
