Breaking: Atiku Abubakar Announces Exit from PDP After Decades of Membership
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has formally parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), drawing the curtain on a long-standing political journey with the party he once helped to shape.
In a letter dated July 14, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of his Jada 1 Ward in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Atiku cited deep-seated disagreements and a departure from the party’s founding ideals as reasons for his immediate resignation.
Expressing his “profound gratitude” for the roles and opportunities the party afforded him — including his time as Vice President and two presidential candidacies — Atiku acknowledged the PDP’s place in his political life.
He ended the letter on a conciliatory note, offering best wishes to the party and its leadership: “Thank you once again for the opportunities and support.”
