Just in: Wike emerges Atiku running mate

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has finally been recommended.as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in next year’s general election.

The recommendation was made by  the committee set up by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, to screen three southern governors and recommend one for the role.metrowatchxtra.com gathered that at the end of its assignment today, June 14, the 16-member committee voted 13 – 3 in favour of the Rivers State Governor.

Baring any unforseen changes, the party looks set to present Wike as Atiku’s running mate.

He would therefore pair with the party’s Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in next year’s election.

Wike was runner up at the PDP special convention two weeks ago at the National Stadium, Abuja, where Atiku emerged the party’s flagbearer.
