IGP Disu Appoints CSP Anietie Iniedu as New Police Spokesman
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
CSP Iniedu takes over from DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who has been redeployed to Lagos State with immediate effect.
Although the Nigeria Police Force had yet to issue an official statement on the development as of press time, sources indicated that the appointment forms part of ongoing efforts by IGP Disu to reposition and strengthen the Force’s public communication architecture.
Before his appointment, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and public confidence in the police.
The new police spokesman previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, and held several operational and administrative positions across the country.
His career profile includes stints as Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat at Force Headquarters, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he coordinated the dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu is widely regarded as an experienced police officer with expertise in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has attended several professional training programmes in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication and intelligence analysis.
The appointment comes as the police leadership continues efforts to enhance public engagement and strengthen confidence in the Force.
