IG @ 60: Over 250 Golfers To Tee Off As Caddies, Eaglets Electrify Benin Fairways
At first light, caddies and eaglets seized the fairways of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), turning manicured grass into a battlefield for the Ignatius Aigbokhaode @ 60 Birthday Pro-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.
This is not just another round of golf, but this is IG @ 60 tournament. And for the caddies, every green is a chessboard. Their whispers cut through the morning calm as they read the breaks for legends, one good line, one perfect read, and they are part of history.
For the eaglets, the air is heavier. Young guns with steady hands, they step onto the tee knowing the elders are watching from the gallery. One swing can earn a nod from a veteran. One putt can turn a name into a reputation.
The pins are set, the galleries are lined. Benin’s fairways are not just hosting golf tournament from today till Saturday, April 25, they are hosting legacy, where Nigeria’s finest swings meet a milestone celebration of the past Captain of the club
Chairman, Organising Committee, Hon Andrew Momodu in a chat with sports writers said: “The fairways have been groomed, the pins are set, and anticipation now run as high as a perfect drive down the hole one to hole 18.
“Over 250 golfers from across the country will converge in Benin City, turning the historic golf course into a theatre of precision, power, and prestige, all in honor of a man whose passion for the game has spanned six remarkable decades.
“It’s more than a tournament, this is a salute to legacy. Every chip, putt, and roar from the gallery will mark 60 years of Ignatius Aigbokhaode, whose life off the course has been just as impactful as his love for the game.
“The first ball takes flight today, and when the final putt drops on Saturday, April 25, it will cap a celebration only golf can deliver, fierce, friendly, and unforgettable.”
