IAUE 57TH Inaugural Lecture Series To Be Delivered By Prof Funmilayo Adesanya

All is set for the 57th inaugural lecture series of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) in Port Harcourt, which is to be delivered by Prof. Mercy Olufunmilayo Adesanya on Thursday, 25th July, 2024.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman Planning Committee for Friends of Prof Funmi Adesanya for Inaugural Lecture, Dr. Progress Umor Daniel, SACCE.
Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya’s lecture, titled: “LEVERAGING THE TRANSFORMATIVE POTENTIAL OF LANGUAGE ON NIGERIA’S SOCIETAL CHALLENGES,” is slated for Thursday 25th July, 2024 by 2.00pm at the University Auditorium of the Main Campus, Port Harcourt Rivers State.
Professor Adesanya the Don is a teacher, an administrator and has held many administrative positions within and outside of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, including being the former Director, General Studies, Entrepreneur and Skills Acquisition of the University, among others. She is currently a Professor in the Department of English and Communication Art.
The linguist was also a Dean at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Regent University of Science and Technology, Accra, Ghana and Deputy Provost at Life Gate College of Education, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria on sabbatical. She was a Visiting Professor to the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana and an external examiner and supervisor of Doctoral dissertations, for the School of Postgraduate Studies of University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dr Daniel notes that Prof. Adesanya would be delivering a thought-provoking lecture on the topic, drawing from her extensive research and experience in her discipline. This event marks a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to advancing knowledge and scholarship especially in the field of Linguistics and Communication.
The lecture is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.
