Mismanagement Of Funds: NANS Calls On President Buhari To Probe Rector Fed Poly Ilaro

The National Executive Council of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a committee to probe ongoing projects and project executed by Dr. Olusegun Aluko, Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State.
The probe panel expected to be set up through the Minister of Education is to comprises of high level panel with men of good character so as to unravel the various cases of fraudulent activities embarked underneath since the rector assumed office.
Making this demand during a press conference held on Sunday in Abeokuta, the Vice President, NANS National, Comrade Ojo Raymond noted the government should probe the illegal and series of fraudulent activities embarked upon by the rector which has hitherto pitched him against some top officials of the institution and the suspension of the President, Students Union Government (SUG), Comrade Adegboye Emmanuel Olatunji purportedly orchestrated by him.
The NANS Vice President emphasised that from the fact finding mission instituted by NANS, they have been able to discover that majority of the project did not follow due process and were executed by the rector through his fronts and private companies.
“We also call on Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and that of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to as matter of urgency investigate the administration of all funds allocated or generated by the polytechnic since the appointment of Dr. Aluko as the rector of this polytechnic.
“The National Executive Council of NANS has approved the proposal of a National Day of Action against victimization and intimidation of students union leaders by institutions management.
“In this direction, the NANS National Secretariat has directed all Students Union Government in every state in the federation to organise mass protest against victimization of our students leader in their respective state before the National Day of Action to be held in Ogun State.
“As students leaders we will continue to resist any attempt or calculated attempts to destabilize students unionism in Nigeria as we will continue to defend the interests of our students at all times in all fronts.
“We will equally fight this deliberate effort to destroy our comrade as we have been able to ascertain in our fact-findings.
“We hereby call on the rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro to immediately and unconditionally reinstate one of our Senator’s in NANS Comrade Adegboye Emmanuel Olatunji pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation of frivolous allegations against him,” he said.
