I VENTURED INTO ROBBERY TO RAISE MONEY FOR PRODUCTION OF MY GOSPEL MUSIC ALBUM, SUSPECT
A robbery suspect who also claimed to be a gospel musician,Nurudeen Ogundairo has revealed that he ventured into robbery to enable him source for money to produce his maiden musical album.
The suspect was arrested alongside two of his band members Tunde Joseph and Ganiu Ajibode by Ogun State Police Command after their robbery operations in Atan-Ota of Ado-Odo/Ota local government of the state.
Speaking with our correspondent at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta where he was paraded alongside other 36 suspects involved in various crimes,he also confessed to the crime
The 28 year old suspect disclosed that, his proposed album was scheduled for launch on July 24 after he might have produced it from the studio from the proceeds of armed robbery.
‘I am a gospel musician. I needed money to enable me produce my maiden album, and I got involved in robbery to raise money for the project. Infact, I have pick a date of June 24 to release the album to the public after production’,he confessed.
Ogundairo lamented his role in robbery,saying he has learnt having spent over two months in detention and pleaded for mercy
‘I hope i can still be forgiven by police and God over this my action. It was in a bid to make head way in my musical career that I take to robbery’,he stated.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu while parading the suspects said a team of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad,FSARS,was detailed for operation and raided the gang hideout at joju in Ota,where the three suspects were apprehhended.
Ilyasu disclosed that, exhibits recovered from them incude;one locally made pistol,one laptop and six Iphone,adding that,the suspects was arrested based on information received about the armed robbers who robbed a couple resident in Atan-Ota.
Similary,the police boss paraded thirty-six suspects over offences ranging from kidnapping,robbery,murder and cultism,adding that all suspects would be arraigned in court after completion of innvestigations.
He assured residents of the state that,the command was battle ready to confront and deal decisively with anybody or group who may or want to destabilize the peace of the state in any form or guise
‘it is our constitutional duty to protect lives and properties and we are ready to that with all our ability. I also wish to appeal to members of the public to assist the police by given us information whenever they notice any strange face/gathering/movement within their area’,the commissioner emphasised.
