How Customs officer escapes death from his colleagues
A Superintendent Officer of Customs, Muhammad Inuwa Sayyadi, escaped been killled by sporadic gun fire from his Colleagues who were on illegal duty around Gari Town of Jigawa State.
Narrating his ordeal after been discharged from Hospital where Surgery operation was conducted on him to removed Bullets from his Head, Sayyadi said, “I was coming from Babura entering Gari when we suddenly encounter some people stoning and pursuing us with Sticks and Cutlasses”.
He said, “I asked my driver to stop but as we stopped we just heard sporadic gun fire on us. I was hit on the head and my car’s engine was also shot at.
” I quickly managed to collected a Turban from to tied the gun wound and I was rushed to nearby Gari hospital”.
Muhammad noted that his first impression was that, they were attacked by bandits, but realized it was his colleagues on operational Vehicle but in uniform.
“When we enquired we understand that they were our colleagues on an illegal joint Boarder Grill Patrol with Police, Immigration and Customs. Those who shot me are my colleagues” he said
The Superintendent Officer explained that he was moved from Gari hospital to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where a surgery was conducted on him and the bullet was removed between his Scold and Eyes.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of Kano/Jigawa Customs Service, SC Nura Said, said, “we regreted the unfortunate incident that took place on Friday the 26th of May 2023 at Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
He said, “We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the victim”.
He assured that the Management of Customs will fully investigate the incident to determine the causes and circumstances with a view to do justice on the incident.
