Herdsmen Invade Mapoly Farmland With Horde of Cows

A group of nomad on Tuesday caused stirs within the premises of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,MAPOLY,Abeokuta when they stormed the school farmland with horde of cows for grazing.
The incident caught staff and students of the institution in a surprise, following the sudden influx of the cows on the school premises led by two fulani herdsmen.
Our correspondent was at the school premises when the shocking development occured, and report that, numbers of the cows were seen grazing on farmland,as being guided by the herdsmen.
The incident was immediately reported to the security of the school by some shop owners and staff of the school,and in swift response raced to the farmland and also confirmed the presence of the cows there.
Eyewitness account said after interrogation and the herdsmen could not give a satisfactory answer, one of them was arrested, and another fled abandoning the cows on the farmland.
The apprehended nomad was immediately taken to Adigbe police station in Abeokuta by the school security operatives.
However, at the station the Nomad Public Relations Officer,Abdul Mumuni was contacted,and on appearance wrote an undertaking which subsequently led to the release of the nomad.
The herdsmen spokesman in the letter of undertaking signed by him said, the association will further enlighten the members to desist from such act.
The letter further stated that the school management should apprehend and prosecute any of its members who act contrary to the undertaking letter.
Our correspondent report that,copies of the undertaking letter were handed over to the police and the polytechnic management, and a copy also in custody of the herdsmen spokesman.
However, as at the time of filing this report, efforts to get the polytechnic public relations officer, Sulaiman Adebiyi proved abortive.
Adebiyi did not pick phone calls put to him ,but in response to text message after over 6 hours,said he would get in touch with Chief Security Officer of the school, but didn’t get back to our correspondent as at the time of filing this report.
