Hallmark Leadership Initiative and NERI empower 100 youths, engage in sanitation ,
Youth in Gajiram a community in Nganzai local government area of Borno state on Thursday took to clearing and cleaning of their environment to improve hygiene and prevent outbreak of diseases.
This is following mobilisation, training and empowerment of 100 youths by a non-governmental organization, Hallmark Leadership Initiative (HALI) in collaboration with North East Regional Initiative(NERI).
The NGOs also engaged the youth in a dialogue session to create awareness on dangers of drug abuse as well as risk of recruitment by insurgents.

Hajiya Maryam, one of the facilitatorsv discuss at length on peace-building and the need for You promotion as a means of preventing the outbreak of diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea.
She urged the participants not to use the money given to them to marry more wives, buy cloths or any purpose other than which it was meant.
Also, speaking, Mallam Abatcha Gana, another facilitator noted that ‘the exercise is more of a volunteer work’.
According to Mr Abatcha, the stipend given to the participants was to boast their morale and also help them in starting up a profitable business.
