Siting Of Specialised Agriculture Int’l Market In Osun Will Boost Economy- Hon. Adedayo

The State of Osun Commissioner For Agricultural and Food Security, Hon. Adedayo Adewole has admitted that siting of specialised Agricultural Produce and Fish International Market will not only boost the economy of the state, but as well boost the business of fish farmers and marketers in Osun and its environs.
Hon. Adedayo stated this in statement made available to Daily Dispatch by the Press Officer of the ministry, Segilola Babalola, where the commissioner commended the Federal Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investment, in conjunction with Agricultural Traders Welfare Association (ATWA) for the project.
The commissioner gave this commendation during the project implementation committee meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Osogbo.
According to him, the project is a fallout of the economic and investment summit, organized by Governor of the state,
Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola towards the end of the year 2019 which was targeted towards boosting the economy of the state.
He said: “Apart from the fact that the project upon implementation, will boost the economy of the state, it will also boost the business of fish farmers and marketers in the state and its environs.”
Speaking earlier at the meeting, representative of the Project
Implementation Committee (PIC), Dr Joseph Okeke who also doubled as
the National President of ATWA thanked the governor of the state for allowing the meeting to hold for the discussion of economic transformation of the State of
Osun in particular and Nigeria in general through agriculture and agricultural value chain.
Dr. Joseph further hinted that the project is targeted towards economic diversification of the Federal Government in the area of specialized agricultural market to promote job creation, enhance
economic activities and facilitate exportation of Nigerian commodities.
Highlight of the events was the inspection of project site of Specialised Agricultural Produce and fish International Market
at Ijebu Jesa in Oriade Local Government of the state.
Present at the event were Hon. Adedayo; Osun House of Assembly member
representing Oriade Local Government Hon. Desmond Ojo; Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Hon. Nathaniel Agunbiade; Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Hon. Abiodun Ajisefinni, and Chairman, Oriade local government, Hon.Obeisun.
Others were Coordinating Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Oluwabukola Aluko; National President, National Fish Association of Nigeria, Otunba (Dr) Gabriel Emiola Ogunsanya; Chairman, Osun State Fish Farmers Association, Mr. Tope Ogundipe and many others.
