Group condemns demolition of Fresh FM

The governor of Oyo state, south west Nigeria,Senator Abiola Ajimobi has come under severe criticism over the demolition of a radio station in the state capital owned by popular musician,Yinka Ayefele on Sunday.
Lagos based civil organisation, the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic violence (CAIDOV) fired the first salvo in a press release signed by its Executive Director,Comrade Gbenga Soloki few hours after the demolition describing the action of the government as “condemnable, irresponsible, callous and insensitive”, and that the government has shown its disrespect for the court as the matter is still being challenged by the owner of the station.
The centre equally berated the government for not listening  to the people its supposed to govern ad preponderant of opinion of the people of the state do not support the demolition. And that the government having given approval for the building ,ought not to take laws into its hand.
According to CAIDOV” the demolition of the corporate headquarters of music house, this morning is irresponsible, callous, insensitive and callous. A Democratic government should allow due process in all its doings. We condemn this illegal demolition as the case is still in court. We are worried that the government of Ajimobi has no respect for the judiciary and this is a threat to peaceful conduct in the state.  We wish to state unequivocally that the government greatly goofed in this and that   we shall join other patriotic people to lawfully pursue this matter to a logical conclusion in the court of law as no government is above the law.”
The group equally noted that the government, though, has the right to  regulate building in the state, such rights must be within the confines of the law, which has not been taken into consideration in this .
Finally, the group advises Mr Ayefele not to despair but remain focused and undaunted as the judiciary will do justice to his case ,because its obvious that the government acted illegally.
“We at the centre urges Mr Ayefele to see this as a temporary setback, and that the court will ultimately rescind the senseless action of the government of Oyo state in due course.
