Governor Zulum decries deadly suicide attack on Borno fish market

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has strongly condemned the suicide bombing that struck a night fish market in Konduga Local Government Area, describing it as a heinous and cowardly act of terror.
The attack, carried out around 10:00 p.m. on Friday by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP operatives, claimed the lives of 12 people and injured 18 others.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, calling the assault “a reprehensible attack on our shared humanity.”
“These barbaric actions are meant to break our spirit, but they will not succeed,” Zulum declared. “Borno people are strong and united. We will not be intimidated by the enemies of peace.”
He urged residents to remain alert and collaborate closely with security operatives by reporting any suspicious movements or activities, stressing the importance of community involvement in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
The governor offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. “My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” he said. “May Allah grant comfort to the grieving and healing to the wounded.”
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public safety, Zulum assured the public that efforts are being intensified in partnership with security agencies to forestall further attacks and protect communities across the state.
