Golf War in Benin: Obaseki, Lalong battle for supremacy at Governor’s Cup Golf Tourney

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and his compatriot from Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong on Saturday set the Benin Club Golf Course ablaze as both battled for supremacy at the 2018 Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament in Benin City.
The tournament which teed-off on yesterday (Friday) at the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) golf course, GRA, Benin City is organised in commemoration of Governor Godwin Obaseki second anniversary in office.
Governor Obaseki, who exhibited his golfing skill left no one in doubt of carrying the day ahead of his guest, Lalong as both teed-off for the 18-hole course to the admiration of golfers and fans who trooped to the course to witness the governors battle.
Supporting governor Obaseki in the race was his deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu (hcp.21), whose handicap is less than his boss by one, while the Club captain, Osagie Nehikhare completed the four-man team.
Earlier before on today’s matches, the veterans and ladies golfers battled for the category star prize respectively on Friday, while the cocktail party was held later in the evening with lots of drinks and meals at the club lounge.
Also playing today are guests men and ladies respectively while the special guests golfers have their playing period as well.
However, at the end of the tournament, winners in different categories will go home with fantastic prize and trophy, just as the dinner and presentation of prizes hold later in the evening.
