A convoy attached to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander, Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, engaged fleeing terrorists in a gun battle in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the death of several bandits.

According to security sources, the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on April 6, 2026, as the GOC was returning from an operational tour to evaluate security conditions and inspect troops deployed at Kulchin Kalgo and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danjibga.

The convoy reportedly encountered the fleeing attackers near Maitashi village, triggering an exchange of gunfire.

Troops were said to have overpowered the assailants, neutralising several of them and recovering weapons, ammunition, and a motorcycle from the scene.

However, the operation recorded a casualty as one soldier, who sustained gunshot injuries during the clash, was rushed to Keta Healthcare Centre but was later pronounced dead.

Following the encounter, troops secured the area before the convoy continued its movement to Gusau, while military operations in the area remain ongoing.
