German govt. brings family planning campaign to Nyanya General Hospital

The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and development in collaboration with the Rotarian Action Group for Population and Development and the Federal Ministry of Health bring family planning campaign project to Nyanya General Hospital, Abuja.
The event was flagged off  on Monday in Abuja.
According to the minister of the German  Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development  Gerd Mueller  ” Family planning is very important and what is especially important is that women can take decision and be empowered. It’s also important to provide free access to contraceptives for women, and to address youths at schools  with Education and information.
Professor  Dolapo Lufadeju the National Coordinator of the Rotarian Action Group for Population And Development (RFPD) attesting to the gains of the project since 1995 with over 200 million Dollars both in cash and in kind several equipment have been supplied such as mosquito nets, Bath kits , vitamins and minerals and capacity building for staffs.
He added that in the last two years they have moved up to 21st century technology has allowed them to record document,maternal statistics nationwide in all the facilities in the country hospital’s, tertiary , secondary and now in the community level. 

He further reiterated that in the next 6 month’s training of 774 monitoring and evaluation officers at the local level will be able to collect data to enable the them see the causes of death and to control and limit it.

The Chief Medical Director Nyanay General Hospital. Dr Philip Ekpe Uche said the visit is very beneficial because Nyanya Hospital is focused on maternal and child care.  According to him, the rate of maternal mortality in the country is very high even the rate of prenatal mortality is still very high ,we need every encouragement that will reduce maternal mortality one of them is contraception. If a woman delivers more than 5 children she stands at a higher risk of hemorrhage and death .

Following conception with contraceptives that is not going to happen. Apart from responsible parenthood we have been able to reduce the mobility and mortalities associated with pregnancies and also associated with child birth .
He added that the Rotary Club Int’l and the society for Gynaecology Nigeria and the Federal ministry of Health have come together so that the German government through the Rotary club is providing this things free of charge particularly the contraception once in a while they also give equipment for theatre in labour ward .

The minister that came promised to send ultrasound to the hospital and it will go along way to alleviate slot of problem in the hospital.
