Former President Obasanjo Slams Fake Letter Attributed to His Memoirs
Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has dismissed as false and misleading a purported letter allegedly extracted from his “latest memoirs,” circulating in parts of the media.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the elder statesman described the publication as “fake and mischievous,” urging members of the public to ignore it.
Obasanjo cautioned against the spread of unverified materials, stressing that the document being circulated did not originate from him or any authentic version of his memoirs.
He also expressed appreciation to friends, associates, and well-wishers for their goodwill messages ahead of his 89th birthday, scheduled for Thursday, March 5.
The former president reaffirmed the need for responsible information sharing, particularly concerning public figures and sensitive publications.
