Festus Keyamo unrealistic campaign rhetoric By George Onmonya Daniel
I understand Festus Keyamo has a job to do, the job of campaigning for President Buhari, but coming to tell Nigerians that President Buhari cares about the masses is not only a fat lie but an insult. Since coming on board what has President Buhari done for the masses? Let me tell you.
( 1. ) President Buhari watched as thousands of the masses were massacred by Fulani militias and did nothing about it. In fact he supported his militias and defended the pogrom, until it became an embarrassment to the nation and he declared for second term before he started taking action. Before he took action thousands had been massacred in Taraba, Benue, Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Adamawa and Zamfara. Thousands of innocent law abiding Nigerians in their ancestral homes. What did Buhari do? He went about defending his Fulani kinsmen who were responsible claiming the killers were Colonel Mamman Ghadafi trained militias, blaming it on ISIS-West Africa, never for once blaming it on Fulani herdsmen who have severally boldly claimed responsibilities and told the world the reasons for the pogrom. What can be worse than this? A president who cannot protect his citizenry.
( 2. ) This president increased the price of fuel and didn’t increase the minimum wage. Lavishing in the palace of Aso Rock he doesn’t understand what the people are going through around the nation. Fuel price came with quadrupled price of food, school fees and everything that affects the common man. People who could afford to eat now are almost begging. LIFE IS HARD. Buhari regime now is synonymous to hunger and poverty. Festus Keyamo, the big-shot, wouldn’t know that.
( 3 ) People from Kano-Kaduna-Abuja axis now cannot travel without worrying about being kidnapped on the highway. Hundreds of local Fulani militias that the government prefer to call BANDITS are responsible for this and the government instead of look at the problem holistically and disarm this Fulani gangs are covering them up. How did these Fulani communities end up with AK 47s and other sophisticated guns and assault riffles? The government of President Buhari doesn’t want to talk about it because it would make his Fulani tribe look bad, in their view.
( 4 ) Boko Haram have killed hundreds of army recently and are now back in business despite noise by this administration that they have finished Boko Haram. Hundreds of military men have been killed and it doesn’t even make the news. You can all recall the army protest of not being paid their allowances, the police have protested too, all in this regime of fighting corruption. It is quite clear the beneficiaries of this loot are the army chiefs and police chiefs.
( 5 ) Big men in President Buhari’s government who have been found wanting, clearly indicted of corruption, are still being defended and protected by the same government. Where is Babachir Lawal? Where is the case of Maina of Pension fund? Where is the cases of the NIA? Where is the case of certificate forgery by the Minister of Finance? They have all been covered up.
( 6 ) Thousands of jobs have been given in Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), FIRS, and all over the civil service, most especially the JUICY JOBS in government parastatals and institutions that pay very well, where the children of who is who are fixed there. Jobs are still being given to children of the influential when the children of the poor buy jobs for N350,000 or more. The President was informed and protesters protested over the CBN job but President Buhari looked the other way.
The list goes on and on. Who doesn’t know today what the common people are going through today? Nigerians have never suffered as they have suffered like in the President Buhari regime since independence. Who doesn’t know is either lying or a beneficiary of this regime.
