Tinubu replaces Yilwatda with Dr. Bernard Doro
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as Nigeria’s new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. The nomination has been sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Dr. Doro’s appointment follows the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former minister, to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
Born on January 23, 1969, Dr. Doro hails from Kwall, in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a professional career spanning over 20 years in clinical healthcare, pharmaceuticals, leadership, and community development across both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
A highly qualified professional, Dr. Doro holds academic credentials in Pharmacy, Law, an MBA with a focus on technology-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. He is currently engaged as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
In addition to his medical and administrative expertise, Dr. Doro is also recognized for his active role in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives, both at home and within the Nigerian diaspora.
