Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has announced the death of his elder brother-in-law, Ambassador Sir (Dr.) Paddy Kemdi Njoku, describing him as a distinguished administrator, mediator and devoted public servant whose life was marked by integrity, humility and service to humanity.
In a heartfelt tribute titled “Adieu Uncle Paddy!”, Ihedioha said Dr. Njoku passed away on May 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and selfless service that would continue to inspire generations.
According to Ihedioha, the late Dr. Njoku, born on August 28, 1950, was not only a senior member of the family but also a dependable source of wisdom, strength and encouragement.
He highlighted the deceased’s remarkable career, noting that he served with distinction as a university administrator, Chairman of the National Examinations Council (NECO) Board, President of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), and Commissioner in the Imo State Judicial Service Commission.
Ihedioha further described Dr. Njoku as a respected mediator, accomplished multilingual scholar, gifted wordsmith and committed Catholic who played active roles in several socio-cultural organisations within and outside Nigeria.
He said the late ambassador was widely admired for his fairness, compassion and dedication to nation-building, adding that his contributions to public service earned him respect across the country.
While expressing the family’s grief, Ihedioha said they were comforted by the enduring legacy Dr. Njoku left behind and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
“We have lost our dear elder brother and first in-law, a man whose life exemplified service, wisdom, humility and devotion to humanity. Though this loss is painful, we are comforted by the lasting legacy he leaves behind,” Ihedioha said.
