Eid-el-Fitr: Wike Urges Unity, Peaceful Conduct Among Abuja Residents

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended warm greetings to residents of Abuja, especially Muslim faithful, on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In his goodwill message, the minister congratulated Muslims in the FCT on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the holy month as a period of spiritual renewal, reflection, and self-discipline.

He urged residents to sustain the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity cultivated during Ramadan, noting that such virtues are essential for peaceful coexistence and national development.

Wike also called on residents to use the festive period to pray for Nigeria’s leaders and the continued peace and progress of the country.

The minister commended the spirit of generosity and solidarity demonstrated across the FCT during Ramadan, highlighting how individuals and organisations supported both Muslims and non-Muslims, reinforcing Abuja’s reputation as a centre of unity, peace, and harmony.

Looking ahead to political activities preceding the 2027 general elections, Wike assured that the FCT Administration would provide a conducive environment for orderly campaigns and related events. He, however, urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding regardless of political, ethnic, or religious differences.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has improved socio-economic conditions and strengthened security in the FCT.

Reassuring residents of their safety, the minister stated that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration, encouraging residents to go about their activities without fear.

Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property while advancing efforts to transform Abuja into a world-class capital city.

He concluded by praying for the acceptance of the fasts and good deeds of Muslim faithful, wishing all residents a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
