Edo government to launch security architecture, places high priority on security

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has said that his administration commitment in placing high priority on the security of lives and property of citizens across the state just as plans to launch new security architecture is billed for December.
Governor Obaseki stated this while fielding questions from journalists
at the state police command headquarters, Benin City when he visited
to assess the state of facilities and infrastructure at the command on
Thursday.
Accompany the governor to the command was the deputy governor, Comrade
Philip Shaibu; Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Osarodion
Ogie; Director of Department of State Security;  Commander, 4th
Brigade Division of the Nigerian Army, and other cabinet members in
the State government.
“This government is placing high priority on security, law and order
in the state, as everyone can witnessed to security situation in Edo
State, efforts this government made and several of others to improve
the operational capability of police in Edo State, that has resorted
in having a new Commissioner of Police, and we have been having
consultations not just with the police commissioner alone, but also
with the Directorate of the State Security (DSS) and the military. “As
we have promised, the government is working on new security
architecture in the state, and we have reached and done quite a bit of
work on it, we are at the point where we are almost ready to launch
new security architecture. We expect that by December 1st, 2017, it
will be unveiled. And this equal with the facilities of Nigeria police
today is to see the state of their infrastructure, the state of their
operations and with the view of understanding how much support we need
to give them so that we can take off the new security arrangement.
“Government focus is how to ensure the lives and properties of
citizens in the state are safe and secure. We all witnessed the large
turnout at the Alaghodaro Investment Summit underlining all of the
discussion we had at the event that we should give assurances to
people who want to come and invest in the state that their investment
will be save and lives as well, so that is the reason why it has
become imperative that we work together with all these people to
ensure that we have very sound security architecture in the state.” He
said.
