Crash petrol pump prices to compensate Nigerians….. Ajulo urges FG over postponement of elections

A Human Rights Activist and legal luminary , Dr Kayode Ajulo has called on the federal government to crash the pump prices of petroleum products for a period of 72 hours as a palliative way to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians who had traveled to different parts of the country in anticipation of participating in the botched presidential and National Assembly elections last week.
Addressing news men in Abuja Wednesday, Ajulo who is also the Executive Secretary of one of the supporting groups rallying for the reelection of President Buhari, “Forward With Buhari-FWB’, canvassed that government should look at the option of introducing palliatives that could help mitigate the cost of the postponed election on the members of the public.
According to him, “The determinant of market price in Nigeria is the cost of fuel. If the president says for the purpose of the postponed election, the price of fuel should go to N100, you can imagine the effect of that. That will be symbolic.”
Ajulo who pointed out that contrary to the position of fifth columnists, said, “President Muhammadu Buhari possesses strong political will, human face and integrity that cannot be controverted under any guise
“I will like to encourage the government to urgently put in place a robust regulatory mechanism to insulate Nigerians from the discomfort that came with the unexpected postponement of the elections by reducing the price of the petroleum products, especially that of PMS
“I say this with all sense of responsibility because it is the most necessary, important and needful thing to do, judging from the current economic situation most households are confronted with in the country as a result of leadership failure and neglect occasioned by previous administrations
“With this proposed pocket friendly-palliative, I have no doubt that the macro-economic challenges.”
