Breaking: Six People Died As Bomb Explodes At UNIMAID

No fewer than Six (6) people have been reported dead in the early morning bomb explosing at the mosque of the University of Maiduguri, Borno state.

Sources at the University informed daily dispatch that the tragic incident occurred in the morning on Monday.

Among those suspected dead is a professor while 4 other students were killed. About 20 other persons are injured and are being attended to.

Some students and members of staff had gone to mosque for early morning prayers when the bomb exploded.

Security operatives have been mobilised to the scene of the explosion.

The National Emergency Management Authority also confirmed the bomb attack and said rescue operation is ongoing.

According to Sani Datti Head Media and Public Relations (NEMA) the  twin blast   at University of Maiduguri  occured around 5am this morning.

He said one of  the suicide bombers detonated his explosion  at a Mosque near Gate 1  when people were observing their early morning prayer, the  second one occurred around Gate 5 of the University.

He added that rescue and security officials were at scene and seventeen (17) injured victims were evacuated to  Hospital.
