Breaking: Kidnapped Kwara nonarch, six others regain freedom after vigilantes raid bandits’ camp
The traditional ruler of Bayagan in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, popularly known as the Ojibara, has escaped from captivity alongside six other abducted persons.
According to credible community sources, the monarch and the other victims—who were seized from a neighbouring community—regained their freedom after local vigilante operatives launched a fierce assault on the bandits’ hideout deep within the forest.
The coordinated offensive reportedly overwhelmed the kidnappers, creating an opportunity for the captives to flee to safety.
Details surrounding the operation are still emerging, but community members have expressed relief and commended the bravery of the vigilante groups whose actions led to the successful escape.
Security authorities are expected to provide an official statement as investigations and search operations continue in the area.
