Breaking: Ex-CJN, Dahiru Musdapher, passes on at 75
Dahiru Musdapher, former chief Justice of Nigeria, has been reported dead. Musdapher died in the early hours of Tuesday, January 23, at 75 years of age.
The cause of his death was not immediately clear but family members took to social media to break the news.
Muneer Musdapher, a young brother of the Dahiru, wrote on Facebook: “My elder brother Justice Dahiru Musdapher former CJN passed on tonight.” The jurist retired from bench five years ago on attaining the mandatory retirement age of 75, Premium Times reports.
Close to a year to his retirement, he was appointed CJN by the then President Goodluck Jonathan, after the exit of Justice Alysious Katsina-Alu. Dahiru was succeeded by Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar in 2012.
Musdapher was educated at the Ahmadu Bello University and the school for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London. He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1968. He began his legal practice as one of the early private legal practitioners in northern Nigeria.
