BREAKING: Court Bars Mark, Aregbesola from Claiming ADC Leadership Roles
A Federal High Court has issued an interim order preventing former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola from identifying themselves as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.
The court’s directive, issued on Thursday, also instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withhold recognition of both figures—and any associates acting under their claimed authority—until a motion already filed in the case is heard.
The legal action was initiated by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC. He is contesting INEC’s recognition of the newly announced leadership, asserting that he remains the legitimate head of the party.
INEC had recently updated its official records to reflect the leadership change, naming Mark and Aregbesola among the newly constituted National Working Committee. This update followed the dissolution of the previous committee led by Chief Ralph Nwosu during the party’s 99th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
