Biodun in Benin: COVID-19: Ogun Donates 6,000 Bags Of Rice, And Others To Security Personnel

Not less than 6,000 bags of rice and other food items have been donated to officers and men across all security outfits operating in Ogun State by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration.
Other food items donated were 6,000 bags of garri, 6,000 bags of millet, 6,000 bags of maize, seasoning cubes, sanitisers, detergents and sanitary towels for their wives.
The government did this to appreciate the efforts of the security personnel during the lockdown in the state as well as mitigate the effect of lockdown on their families,
The Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele while donating the food items on behalf of the state government emphasised that the security forces in the state are partners in the development agenda of the state.
She said: “They are also family men and women who have to deal with not only the professions or careers, but have to deal and support their families at all times.
“Immediately this lockdown became inevitable, the governor had a meeting with all the security chiefs to determine how best to manage the situation in the state.
“Within the period of lockdown, the state have had several challenges within the security architecture in the state which were professionally managed by these security forces.
‘’At the beginning we gave them some cash to be able to support their officers who were on special assignment. But today, we are now giving them food items to support them as well.
“This will go to everybody, not just the police on the frontline who were supported with cash before, but this will go to everybody in all their barracks right across the state.
“We have here about 15 different agencies represented, the Police, Army, Customs, Immigration, TRACE, NDLEA, Civil Defence, DSS, So safe, others, so this is all encompassing relief package.”
In his address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd) said the state government was passionate about the welfare of officers and men of security agencies, noting that the relief materials were extended to them as a show of appreciation.
Giving a vote of thanks on behalf of service chiefs and security agencies in the state, State Commandant, National Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Mr Ahmed Abodunrin, appreciated the state government for being peoples friendly.
He added that the palliative measures would aid them to re-double their efforts at ensuring the safety of lives and properties of the residents, assuring the government of continued commitments to excellent security service delivery.
