Betta Edu Commends Oluremi Tinubu for Promoting Unity at Interfaith Iftar/Lent Gathering

Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, has praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for promoting national unity through an interfaith gathering that brought together Muslims and Christians observing Ramadan and Lent.

Edu gave the commendation after attending the Interfaith Breaking of Fast (Iftar and Lent) hosted by the First Lady at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday.

The event attracted members of the female Federal Executive Council, female heads of agencies and extra-ministerial departments, as well as stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Edu, the initiative reflects the First Lady’s commitment to fostering peace, unity and mutual respect among Nigerians of different religious backgrounds.

She noted that bringing Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians observing Lent together in a single gathering of prayer and reflection demonstrates the importance of faith, dialogue and shared values in strengthening national cohesion.

Edu also highlighted the role of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which she said continues to promote compassion, social inclusion and programmes aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities across the country.

She described the interfaith event as a powerful symbol of harmony and inclusiveness, stressing that despite religious differences, Nigerians share common values such as sacrifice, charity, love for humanity and commitment to national progress.

Edu commended the First Lady for her leadership and called on Nigerians to use the ongoing fasting period to pray for peace, unity and the continued development of the country.
