BCGS monthly medal: Otabor’s family rule the kitty

It was a weekend of celebration as ex-lady captain, Debby Otabor and her husband, Wilco Otabor won the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Ladies Monthly Medal Kitty held over the weekend.
The Monthly Medal sponsored by Gilbert Aghogho was organised by the ladies division saw Mrs. Otabor winning the ladies category with a net score of 75, while Wilco, won the veteran men’s category with 84 net.
However, closely followed the winner were ex-lady captains, Suwadetu Mahmud (80 net), and Princess Nkiruka Awiaka (81 net), as they both placed second and third respectively.
Lady Captain, Princess Habiibah Oyeghe Oyarekhua (87 net), and another former lady captain, Nora Ucheagwu (89 net) could only settled for fourth and fifth position at the end of the event that attracted all other members in spite of the heavy downpour that almost marred the event.
Furthermore, in the men’s category, M. Edokpolor with 72 net emerged winner ahead of the duo of Peter Oboro (76 net) and Barr. Lawrence Ugiagbe (77 net) for second and third place respectively, while Oscar Iyare 89 gross was adjudged the best for the award.
Professor JosephineK Mokwuenyi recorded 84 net to beat Ivie Iyoha (89 net) to the trophy in the veteran ladies category.
In her remarks, lady captain, Princess Oyarekhua appreciated all golfers that took part at the event. “Though they played in the rain, but it was fun all the way for members of BCGS who know that golf is life.”
In another development, Princess Oyarekhua also went with her ladies to support Mrs. Prinye Obuaya, lady captain of Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC) Asaba, Delta State on her inaugural golf tournament, held at the club golf course.
At the end of the tournament, Princess Oyarekhua emerged second runner-up in the ladies category. She expressed her delight at the end of the event. “We call her the Lady Captain with a Swag.’
