Breaking: Kidnapped Turkish expatriates: Abductors demands N16m ransom

A Chieftain of Lafiagi, the Shaaba of Lafiagi, Abdulrahaman Manzuman has disclosed further details concerning the four Turkish expatriates abducted in Gbale, Edu Local Government Area of kwara State.

According to Manzuman,  the Gunmen who abducted the Four Turkish Expatriates  had contacted their employers demanding N4m per head totalling N16m.

Manzuman said: “We are very disturbed concerning the incident. I heard that the kidnapper have contacted the company demanding for N4 million per head. I can’t say much on it because I am not in town presently.”

The Chief who spoke in an exclusive a telephone interview with our reporter expressed his dissatisfaction on the matter, adding that such development is an eyesore to the community.

According to him, the armed men had last Friday stormed into a cool spot located in the village and matched the Turkish men, who were said to have been relaxing at the local joint, to an unknown destination.

According to a source who confided in this medium on condition of anonymity, the joint had become a regular recreational place for the expatriates after their daily work.

Recalling the incident he said, “On that fateful evening, we were told by other people who had scampered for their safety that some gunmen who looked like Fulani herdsmen had taken the Turkish to unknown destinations.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Sunday called for calm following the unfortunate abduction of some Turkish nationals in Edu local government area of the state.

“The Governor is working closely with the security agencies to ensure that prompt rescue of the expatriates.
The Governor urges the people to go about their normal and lawful businesses and not to entertain any fear, as doing so may embolden the criminals behind the development,” according to a statement by his press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
