Babagana Kingibe under attack as MKO betrayer
Mr. Babagana Kingibe has come under attack since President Muhammadu Buhari decided to honor the memory of MKO Abiola by making June 12th Democracy Day. MKO Abiola won June 12th, 1993, election which was annulled by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Mr. Kingibe was his running mate.
General Babangida, then Head of State, after annulling the election, handed over power to an interim government headed by Ernest Shonekan. Shortly after General Abacha toppled the government of Ernest Shonekan and declared himself president. MKO Abiola fought for his mandate and was locked up in prison when Babagana Kingibe withdrew quietly.
MKO Abiola died under detention in 1998, a month after General Abacha’s sudden demise still fighting for his mandate in a suspicious circumstances which today many Nigerians linked with the United States delegation who were chairing the meeting between Abiola and the military government of Lt. General Abdulasalmi Abubakar.
Mr. Babagana Kingibe backed out completely from MKO Abiola and immediately President Buhari announced honouring MKO and Kingibe, a lot of Nigerians questioned why Kingibe should be honoured.

Today, a photo of an old The News magazine, has surfaced on Facebook and Twitter in which some Nigerians are expressed their discontentment with Kingibe being honoured and some are accusing him of organizing this whole June 12th honour thing as he is the main beneficiary of it.
Mr. Babagana Kingibe is being accused of being among the cabal who control the President Buhari’s government and part of the people giving the man bad advise.
