AUCTIONEERS PARTNER POLICE TO EXPOSE RECEIVERS OF STOLEN GOODS

Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Association of Auctioneers said it was prepared to partner with the police to flush out receivers of stolen goods in the state and environs.
The Association Caretaker Committee Chairman,Chief Olu Odeyemi disclosed this on Thursday at the extension tenure of the committee held at the association secretariat located in Kuto area of Abeokuta.
The committee boss said the association had observed that fake auctioneers and their godfathers were behind receipt of stolen goods,hence,the resolve by the body to partner with security agents to expose and deal with the illegality and crimes associated with it.
Odeyemi, a former commissioner in the state,emphasised further that,part of method to checkmate the crime, was a resolution at the meeting that,only registered auctioneers would be allowed to operate in the state.
Hear him ‘Our association resolved to partner with police and other security agents to flush out receivers of stolen goods,and in the same vein, their godfathers would be exposed’.
He also disclosed that, a task force has been put in place,to monitor auctioneering business in the state, and anybody caught not to be a registered member woud be handed over to appropriate authority for prosecution.
His words ‘We have put in place a task force to monitor activities,and only registered members would be allow to operate. Any unregistered and self acclaimed members would henceforth be handed over to appropriate authority to face prosecution.
Odeyemi, who also disclosed that, the caretaker committee would run the affairs of the association for another six months(May-October), explained that within the period the committee would set up electoral committee to conduct a fresh election.
He said the dissolution of the former executive followed vote of no confidence passed on them,and ratified by the association,with approval of the national secretariat of the association.
