APC presidential primary: Aggrieved policemen protest what they term “cheating”….paid N1, 200 for three days instead of N30, 000
The Federal Capital Territory FCT, police command may witness another protest by the rank and file officers from the command over what they described as “cheating”.
Some of the policemen who bear their grievances to our correspondent on Monday said the high ranking officers unjustly used them to make money during the last All Progressive Congress APC Presidential primary at the eagle square.
According to them, after spending three nights at the venue of the primaries in eagle square they were only paid a paltry sum of N1, 200 for the three days as against N30, 000 approved for them for the three days. Each officer was to be paid N10, 000 per day.
“We suffered for three days, day and night in the cold. But what all our efforts could attract is just N1, 200.
“We were told that the sum of N10, 000 was approved per day for each policemen on duty by the APC which was paid to the authority in dollars. This money was not paid to us until yesterday and what we were paid is N1, 200, some of the officers who pleaded anonymity disclosed to our reporter.
Investigations revealed that the SPOs were paid N3, 000 while Inspectors and other lower rank paid N1, 200.
In view of this the policemen called on the police authority to do the needful by paying them their balance or they may to go on protest.
Efforts to get the command’s PRO proved abortive as she said not to be on seat when our correspondent called at her office for clafications.
