APC National Chairman Receives Top Kano Politicians as NNPP and PDP Chieftains Join Ruling Party

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on Saturday received a number of prominent politicians and their supporters into the ruling party at an event held in Kano State.

The development saw politicians from opposition parties, including the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), declare their allegiance to the APC.

Among those received by Yilwatda were Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga and his supporters, as well as Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and his supporters.

Also welcomed into the APC was Senator Mas’ud Eljibrin Doguwa, Chairman of the NNPP Fruit Faction.

Others included Hon. Ali Datti Yako, NDC State Deputy Chairman, alongside other NDC executives, and Hon. Badaru Umar, former Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area, who joined with members of the Gawuna camp.

Former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isyaku Ali Danja, also defected to the APC with his supporters.

The list further included Hon. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, former PDP deputy governorship candidate, and his supporters; Senator Baraka Sani, former Special Adviser to the President; and Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya, Chairman of the NNPP Book Faction.

Senator Abdulmajid Dauda Dandawaki, a former NNPP senatorial aspirant, also joined the APC alongside his supporters.

Hon. Kabiru Adamu Kofar Ruwa, a former NDC House of Assembly aspirant, and his supporters were among the other politicians received into the party.

The influx of opposition politicians into the APC in Kano is expected to further strengthen the ruling party’s political structure in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
