ALMUNUS DONATES ULTRA-MODERN KITCHEN TO SCHOOL
The Almunus of Federal Government College,Ogbomoso in Oyo State have constructed an ultral modern multi-million naira kitchen to the school.
The old students of 1985 set were behind the project,which was handed over to the school management,as part of activities marking 40th anniversary of the college.
The weekend-long programme, which saw alumni coming in
from all over Nigeria, as well as the Diaspora, since the College was
founded in 1977, started off with inter-schools debate, quiz
competition, as well as a Jumat service.
Other programme of event also iinclude; anniversary luncheon,
football match,awards and social night among others .
The Set Captain of the Class of 1985, Chief Daniel Ubajaka, popular known as Mighty Igor, in his remark described the day as a
remarkable one, never to be forgotten in the annals of the school.
He said the project was achieved with the commitment and tenacity of purpose of members of the set.
The captain thanked the set members for their financial and moral support, as well as the Principal, staff and
students of the College for their co-operation, while promising the
set continued support to the development of its alma mater.
The project Committee Chairman, Alhaji Adeyinka Raji, was also full of
gratitude for the successful completion of the project.
He explained that the kitchen project was chosen by the set, because of the desire to chose a project that would be beneficial to everyone in the school,irrespective of age, sex or social strata.
“The kitchen will impact staff and students, when decent meals are prepared in a clean and hygienic environment, thus avoiding the health risks associated with cooking food for multitudes”,he noted
The global President of the Federal Government College, Ogbomoso Old Students’ Association (FEGOCOOSA), Mrs, Yetunde Jaiyesimi, as well as the current school Principal, Dr. Hilda Onyekwere, in their separate
remarks, appreciated the Class of ’85, very immensely, for building a
magnificent kitchen complex for the use of the entire staff and
students of the school.
However, the ultramodern kitchen, which had earlier been equipped with giant cooking pots and tripod stands, was dedicated by Pa. Jacob Ajagbe, a retired Chemistry teacher, while Pa. Pius Enahoro, a former English,
Literature-in-English teacher and retired Vice-Principal, commissioned the building for use of the benefit of all and the glory of God.
Meanwhile,thereafter
of the kitchen facilities by the project Committee Chairman, Alhaji Adeyinka Raji.
Present at the programme were Chairman, Board of Trustees, FEGOCOOSA, Elder Don Edozien, Immediate past Global
President, Barr. Francis Orbih, Chairman, 40th Anniversary Committee, Barr. ‘Funmi Asaolu, the Colleges’ first Headboy, Mr. Aderemi Adeleke, represented by Mr. ‘Deremi Atanda, amongst several other dignitaries
from within and outside the country.
