Alleged Arrest Attempt on El-Rufai Sparks Controversy at Airport
Muyiwa Adekeye, media adviser to former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that security operatives tried to arrest the former governor on Thursday.
According to Adekeye, the incident occurred when El-Rufai arrived in Nigeria on a flight from Cairo.
He said the security agents approached the former governor at the airport and attempted to take him into custody.
Adekeye stated that El-Rufai refused to accompany the operatives, insisting on receiving a formal invitation before complying. He further alleged that the agents confiscated the former governor’s international passport, taking it from one of his aides.
In his statement, Adekeye said: “Security agents today attempted to arrest Malam Nasir El-Rufai as he arrived on a flight from Cairo. Malam El-Rufai declined to follow them without a formal invitation. They, however, seized his passport from an aide.”
