Akpabio Griefs Over Former IGP’s Death, Solomon Arase
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, GCON, has expressed grief over the passing of former Inspector General of Police and immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase.
In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the late Arase as a consummate security expert and accomplished professional who made remarkable contributions to the transformation of the Nigeria Police Force during his leadership.
While commiserating with his family, the police community, and the government and people of Edo State, Akpabio noted that the nation had lost a true gentleman and an exceptional officer.
“I received with deep sadness the news of the death of Dr. Solomon Arase, a fine officer and distinguished professional whose tenure as Inspector General brought positive changes to the police,” he said.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, and the entire National Assembly, I extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and the people of Edo State over this painful loss. Dr. Arase’s passing is sudden and heartbreaking; his impactful life and service to the nation will be greatly missed. I pray God grants his soul eternal rest.”
