Ahead of the African fashion event coming up on the 18th & 19th of October, 2025. Obinna Temple Obi (Esq) the convener for Fashion Fusion Africa in an interview said that Africa Fashion Fusion is an event that is put together to allow for young designers and very prosperous designers who know what they are doing in the fashion industry, who have the craft, who have the talent and who have the school got the skills to come and showcase their various works on the stage. So we create a stage where different people from different parts of Africa, from Rwanda, from South Africa, from Egypt, from any part of Africa to showcase their creativity. And we are trying to sell fabrics to the world. So African fabrics have been looked down upon for a while.Like for now, you can see I’m wearing an Adire piece. We have fabrics like Adire, Akwete, Akwete from the east, Adire from the West, Ashoke from the west as well, Itay and Die from the North. So we want to bring back the African textile and we launch it into the global space. You know, fashion is one universal language that everybody speaks because everybody wears clothes. So it’s an opportunity for people to actually show their creativity and bring their craft to one space. So we just created an ambiance here in Abuja, a space where everybody conveys like a convergence point for talents to showcase their creativity in fashion. So our theme for every year is Fables through Fabrics. We’re telling stories through our fabrics and that’s what we are doing here tonight. So tonight is a pop up event, but our main event is going to be on the 18th and 19th October and we hope that you are here.Standard Times Nigeria, and TV stations are here to cover our events. So thank you so much for this opportunity. And this is an opportunity for us to give back to our generation that we belong in.So this is an opportunity to actually show the crafts, give everything that we have, possess what we are possessions, show the world what we are about, that Africans, we can tell our story by ourselves and not somebody else telling our stories for us.My take home word for the public is don’t wait for the government to do what you do for them.Do something for the government yourself.Create something for yourself.Create jobs.
Mr. Joshua C AGU, Creative Director, managing partner for outbox experience and partner for fashion fusion Africa. The fashion fusion Africa project was born out of a need to create a platform for smaller brands to shine, and that’s why we created the entire fashion tuition Africa platform so that African brands will have a way to showcase themselves to a global audience, and that’s why we are putting this together. Okay, so what’s your final take home? Words to the public? Now,
for the general public, it’s time for us to start telling African stories. It’s time for us to start, you know, joining hands with people who are trying so hard to push the afro, the afro story, fashion fusion, Africa is that platform. So partner with us. Come together. Let African voices be heard and let us make Africa shine to the world.
