Adeola Submits Nomination Forms for Ogun 2027 Governorship Race, Gains APC Leaders’ Backing

A major step has been taken in the build-up to the 2027 Ogun State governorship election as Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate.

The submission took place at the African Continental Hotel in Abuja, where the lawmaker was accompanied by his wife, Chief Mrs. Temitope Adeola, alongside a strong delegation of political stakeholders from Ogun State and indigenes residing in the Federal Capital Territory.

The event drew the presence of top political figures within the state, including Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, as well as former deputy governors Segun Adesegun and Salmon Badru.

Also in attendance were the Ogun State APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, and the party’s Organising Secretary, Yemi Adelani.

The gathering further attracted prominent political leaders and former office holders, including Senators Lekan Mustapha and Salisu Afolabi, as well as several former Speakers of the Ogun State House of Assembly such as Titi Oseni Shodunke, Tunji Egbetokun, Suraju Adekunmbi, and Oluomo.

Other notable figures present included Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka, Afolabi Afuape, Olumide Osoba, Femi Ogunbanwo, Tunji Akinosi, Kunle Akinlade, and Biyi Otegbeye, among others.

The submission ceremony was witnessed by a large number of APC leaders and supporters who travelled from Ogun State to Abuja, underscoring growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 race.

The development is seen by observers as a significant milestone in the early positioning for the Ogun governorship contest, with Adeola’s camp projecting unity and broad-based support within party ranks.
